Currently reading:  Jane and Prudence, by Barbara Pym.  I love Pym!  And this year marks the centenary of her birth, June 2nd, so I plan to read through all of her books in celebration of this wonderful author.

Chris, I started with Excellent Women years ago, then read Quartet in Autumn (https://afondnessforreading.wordpress.com/2009/12/28/quartet-in-autumn/). They are quiet reads, focusing on people and interactions, with subtle humor and poignant insights. She’s been compared to Jane Austen, and I understand the connection in how she creates her characters. Here’s a quote by her that I like a lot and that I think describes her books pretty well: “The small things of life were often so much bigger than the great things . . . the trivial pleasure like cooking, one’s home, little poems especially sad ones, solitary walks, funny things seen and overheard.”
